DIY Recycled Computer Desk

I've been looking for a solution for a computer desk for the longest time. I was looking for something simple, narrow in depth but long in width, and cheap. I picked up the folding closet door below for $5.00 at Habitat Restore.

I applied two coats of paint on one panel after disconnecting the doors.

My favorite handyman attached three sturdy brackets to the studs.

And I now have the desk that I've always wanted. Including the cost of the brackets and paint, the project totaled just under $30.00.

Recycled Cereal Box Clutch

Looking back at old projects, I guess I was really into recycling cereal boxes. Here is a clutch that I made a couple of years ago from a Cheerios box, ugly dress from Goodwill, and a bottle cap (button).

I don't have a tutorial for this one but I'd be glad to put one together if there is an interest!

Waste Art Competition

At my full-time gig, I'm on the Green Team committee...think "office recycling police." For our Earth Day celebration, we are holding a "Waste Art Competition."

The Rules

Art is art, the sky is the limit. The masterpiece just has to be made from recyclable or non-recyclable trash items from home or work. The pieces will be viewed and judged during our monthly staff meeting. 

The Plan

I do not have one...yet. I've hit a bit of a creative block on this one. It will surely pass. For now, this is my blog roll for ideas on how to turn trash into art.
